Special educational needs

At Nightingale we ensure that all children are entitled to an education that enables them to:

• achieve the best possible educational and other outcomes,

• become confident young children with a growing ability to communicate their own views and ready to make the transition into compulsory education.

All early years providers are required to have arrangements in place to identify and support children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) or disabilities and to promote equality of opportunity for children in their care. These requirements are set out in the EYFS Framework.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding your child, please speak to Beata or Aimee when you see us at school or you can email us at nightingalesenco@gmail.com

At Nightingale we work together with the parents and child to help them achieve and thrive in the environment to the best of their abilities.

That may be through small focus groups, outside in a smaller calmer space, working on skills such as turn taking, waiting, listening, language and communication and sensory breaks such as physical movement or some quiet time.

We often work closely with outside agencies, such as occupational Therapists, speech and language therapist, as well as with the Wandsworth early help team.

We work together with parents and carers to create individual learning plans and if needed we can apply for extra funding to help support your child’s learning.
